"Jack Lion’s members unearth the early ’00s interest in connections between jazz and electronic music and refashion it for this current era. Striking a balance between jazz composition, down-tempo break-beats, and hazy atmospherics they have made their mark as one of Iowa City’s headiest and most adventurous bands."

"If you haven't heard the music of Jack Lion yet, it's exactly the type of electro-acoustic, diatonic-based ensemble music I'm trying to enlighten about and draw attention to...

These guys, all of these guys, are not only taking the next step but in my opinion they could be creating a genre of their own. It goes way beyond merely carrying the torch for artists like this. You can hear overtones of previous post-alternative bands like Tortoise and Mum, but these guys go much further.

Jack Lion's music...mixes jazz ability and sensibility with electro-ambient texture and sentiment, yet there's NOTHING stereo typical about it the way most forms of jazz are. There's nothing standard or "smooth" or indulgent about this brand of ambient electro-acoustic music. It plows forward with artistic integrity and in the spirit of exploration and innovation..."
